So, there's a car dealership near my apartment complex that's called Mad Max's. I've always thought that it was an odd name for a car dealership, but whatever. It's kind of small, and definitely has a lot of "personality." Today I was riding the bike home, and because I was coming from a direction that I don't normally come from, I rode right next to Mad Max's. They have flags out on poles in front of the place and I was riding right underneath them. The flag's had skulls and cross-bones on them. Wow. I want to buy one of their cars.
But seriously, I do want a car. And I'm going to start saving for one immediately. Today I had a little crash on the bike, and before that I was freezing as I was riding the bike, and I realized (for like the 4th time in a week) that I need to buy a car. So, I'm going to start planning that into my budget, and we'll see how it goes!

Good luck with that. I hesitated a lot when I bought my new car, but I am discovering that it fit right into my budget perfectly once I made room.
I understand the whole need a car thing, and crashing bikes in the snow definitely is not fun been there done that... and cars yes they are cold when you get into them but they keep the wind and snow out of your face so you can at least partially see, so i hope you get the car you need :)
so, as i started to read this post, i was sure that you were going to share with the world how you trashed your budget, and how you got such a great steal from Mad Max's. I was all waiting for it to happen. Then, it didn't. Good for you. Defying all odds! Don't worry, just think that this will be the LAST December in snow and on a bike...not the last of this winter, but last December!
So I know that when you first start saving for a car/working it into your budget, this isn't a practical question... but what are you going to get??? Even when one's price range is practical (read: cheap), it is so fun to dream...
LOL about Mad Max's flags--we went to see Brian Regan for Josh's birthday, and one of the routines he did was about how in the world used car businesses come up with their marketing tactics. For example, who figured out that tying a balloon onto the cars on your lot must help them sell? You see that all the time, so it must work... hmm, it was much funnier when Brian Regan told the story. :D
Thanks for all of your encouraging comments. I think I'll try to refrain from trashing the budget! :)
I'm dreaming of a small, four-door, manual vehicle. I don't know what brand or anything. I need some help! This is part of the reason the budget won't be trashed right now, because I really do need to educate myself about cars so I can buy one that I'll really like.
Yay for graduation but sad...what if I never see you again? :( I'm going out of town Friday.
