An idea

My friend Christin wrote a great blog post about therapy a little while ago. She shared some of her experience with therapy, and then talked about her opinion of therapy and the bad wrap that it generally gets. I loved her analogy in the second paragraph, where she says that when you say you're going to the doctor, no one assumes that you're dying. But when you say you're going to a therapist, some people assume that you're crazy! That is just not true. I have to agree with Christin saying that seeking help for stress or other emotional issues means that you are emotionally healthy. If there are things going on in your life that need fixing, and you don't know how to do it on your own, a therapist can be an objective person who can give you great advice. So, for those of you who may be thinking about therapy, please give it a try. It might help you change your life.

I totally agree with you, Merry, and I appreciate your friend sharing her thoughts so openly.

This is something that Philip and I have talked about quite a bit, based on experiences of some of our family members. We agree that there is nothing wrong with seeing a therapist, and hate that it has such a negative connotation to it. Like Christin said, when you go to a doctor, people don't assume you're dying, but if you go to a therapist, people think you're nuts! That's completely unfair.

I don't really know where I'm going with this, but I appreciate your thoughts and Christin's thoughts. Thanks!

Sara, we are moving into my aunt's basement, so I don't think we'll need it. But thanks for the offer!
